At 18 Sam began working alongside his father as a helper in a large steel fabrication shop in Edmonton, a few years later he got his ticket as a structural fabricator. It wasn’t long before he knew his passion for working with different alloys such as steel, stainless and copper would be his medium.

In 2000, after 22 years in the fabrication business, Sam decided to follow his dream of being an artist by opening his first studio. His fabrication, drafting, and design experience helped facilitate this dream into a reality.

After 10 successful years, it was time to find a larger studio as commissioned work was becoming grander, in size and design. An example of this is “The Gathering” a custom Cupelli piece in the trendy High Street area of downtown Edmonton.

September 2010 marked the opening of Sam’s new studio on 169 Street and 106 Avenue. After a 4-month renovation, his dream became his reality. The new space has given him the ability to create the sculptures, furniture, lighting, and architectural elements he always wanted.

Sam Cupelli has become well known for his unique trend-setting designs that can be incorporated into any decor. In helping his clients realize their visions, Sam is able to interpret ideas to assist in creating the type of feature that satisfies both aesthetics and function.

“My life’s work is to create unique, one-of-a-kind timeless works of art.” Sam Cupelli
